The 6th round table meeting for the CAMPUS Asia program was held!

The 6th round table meeting for the CAMPUS Asia program took place on December 23 at the Qingdao campus of Shandon University, China. Led by Prof. Akihide Tada, five faculty and staff members from the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagasaki University, participated in the round table meeting. The meeting was also joined by representatives of the School of Civil Engineering and the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shandong University as well as by Prof. Jun Kyungsoo, Dean of the Graduate School of Water Resources and other members from Sungkyunkwan University.

The main topic of the meeting was the double degree program to be launched in 2018. In accordance with the understanding confirmed in each university, the participants from three universities got into specific discussion of the issues raised during the previous meeting, including the time schedule, enrollment period, credit acquisition and graduation thesis for the double degree program. As a result, they reached an agreement to establish the trilateral double degree program in 2018. As for 2018, however, Nagasaki University would only send their own students. In the meanwhile, Shandong University, China and Sungkyunkwan University, Korea will go ahead to implement their bilateral double degree program.

Prof. Tada from Nagasaki University also proposed a plan to establish a joint curriculum among the three universities while ensuring its educational quality. Based on the ideas exchanged with each university, Nagasaki University will further coordinate towards its implementation in 2018. In addition, Nagasaki University updated the status of the incoming students currently accepted from Shandong University and Sungkyunkwan University.

Furthermore, the Memorandum of Understanding on the Double Degree Program as well as its Implementation Guidelines are to be concluded by the end of March 2018. The “Consortium Steering Committee on Human Resources Development for Infrastructure” for this year was also agreed to be held at Nagasaki University in March.
