The 2nd External Evaluation Committee Meeting Held
On March 11, 2026, the second External Evaluation Committee meeting for this project was held in a hybrid format. As in the previous meeting, the committee consists of four members: Chair Norikazu Shimizu, Mr. Nobuhiro Arai, Prof. Satoshi Kaneko, and Prof. Masaki Nagae.
The purpose of this committee meeting was to evaluate the activities carried out over the past five years under the “Asia Intercollegiate Cooperative Project for Nurturing Global Leaders in Sustainable Infrastructure Development,” and to promote continuous improvement.
On the day of the meeting, following opening remarks by Kazuaki Kawamoto, Dean of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering and the project’s principal investigator, Associate Professor Seiji Suzuki provided an overview of the project’s progress and achievements over the five-year period. Subsequently, the committee members offered their evaluations of the initiatives to date, as well as valuable comments from various perspectives regarding future developments after the conclusion of the project and areas for improvement.
As a result of the evaluation, it was recognized that the project plan has been steadily implemented over the past five years. In particular, within the student exchange programs, although participation in long-term double degree programs declined due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project achieved results exceeding the original plan through flexible and innovative efforts. These included the implementation and expansion of short-term study abroad programs based on credit transfer, the introduction of hybrid short-term programs, and the promotion of research exchanges that were not initially planned.
On the other hand, constructive recommendations were also provided for the future, including the need to enhance institutional support systems for student mobility (both outbound and inbound) and to reduce the workload of faculty members.
Our university will sincerely take these valuable comments into consideration and utilize them in the future development of the project (Phase 4).
