The first external review committee on the CAMPUS Asia Program took place in Nagasaki University

On July 23, 2018, the first external review committee on the CAMPUS Asia Program took place in Bunkyo campus of Nagasaki University.

The committee member consists of three academic experts whose majors are civil and construction engineering (emeritus professor at Kyoto University), tunnel and underground structures (professor at the Graduate School of Yamaguchi University) and water environmental engineering (professor/head of Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University) as well as two business-related  members from construction company (Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd.) and consultant company (Nippon Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd.).

Following an opening remark made by Prof. Yasuhiro Shimizu, Dean of Graduate School of Engineering, the project manager, Prof. Akihide Tada, gave an overall explanation of the project, including its background, progress status and future challenges. The project received high recognition from the committee members as well as unrestrained feedback on our challenges in securing enough number of outbound students from Nagasaki, developing a fruitful curriculum for the infrastructure maintenance and continuing the project with limited budget. It is our sincere hope that the university’s efforts towards internationalization will be more widely known and recognized, and the reciprocal relationship between Japan and China/Korea will be established appropriately and sustainably.

The external review committee was established in 2018 with the aim of enhancing the quality of activities of the project. In addition, a joint external review committee by the three universities is planned as an inevitable element to ensure the quality of education related to the CAMPUS Asia program.

Faculty and staff members of Nagasaki University value the comments made during the committee and are determined to further promote the project. The report on the first external review committee will be published on the homepage once it is available.
